Description
The nine-inch coils combine articulation travel with a second rate for compression. Their SAE9254 steel is preset and shot-peened.
Construction and application
- The progressive, variable-rate long-travel coil uses two stages. Flex Rate permits expansion during articulation, keeping the coil seated at its upper mount and the tire in contact with terrain while providing ride comfort. Further compression engages Ride Rate.
- SAE9254 spring steel undergoes presetting and high-velocity hard-steel-pellet shot peening. The peening compresses the steel surface to increase tensile strength.

Additional product details
The initial Flex Rate of the 179DR permits extension during articulation, keeping the spring seated at its upper mount as the tire follows the terrain. Compression beyond that stage engages the Ride Rate. Skyjacker uses SAE9254 steel, a presetting process and high-velocity steel-pellet shot peening that compresses the surface to increase tensile strength.
