Red Line transmission oils combine cold shiftability with hot gear protection, thermal stability and film strength. Typical efficiency improvement is 1 to 5 percent; their load capacity exceeds petroleum oils and stability permits extended use. Within the range, MTL serves most street and racing manuals and transaxles unless SAE 90 or GL5 protection is required; MT90 (GL4) and 75W90NS (GL5) address those requirements with synchro compatibility. Limited-slip transaxles may require 75W90 to control chatter. The 75W140NS grade reduces transmission noise while retaining cold shiftability. D4 and High Temperature ATF offer GL4 gear protection for automatic transaxles and performance automatics; D4 emphasizes cold shifting. MTL improves wear protection in many ATF-specified manuals, especially in racing, with cold properties comparable to petroleum ATF. All Red Line transmission lubricants support synchronizer compatibility.
