Construction and application
- The 27-micron design produced a maximum initial restriction of 2.5 PSI when tested to SAE J806.
- Designed to reduce pressure drop and oil bypass while maintaining flow in severe racing conditions.
Moroso explains its 27-micron selection by reporting that particles smaller than 20 microns do not cause engine wear, while excessively fine filters can create enough pressure drop to open a bypass valve and leave the oil unfiltered.
