The Dometic FreshJet 5 Rooftop RV Air Conditioner with Heat Pump delivers powerful cooling and supplemental heating performance in a compact low-profile design engineered as a direct replacement for Dometic Penguin II rooftop systems. Featuring approximately 15,000 BTU of high-efficiency cooling capacity along with integrated heat pump functionality, this unit helps maintain comfortable RV interior temperatures across multiple seasons.

Designed for both ducted and non-ducted RV applications, the FreshJet 5 features a built-in hard start system for improved compressor startup reliability and smoother operation. The built-in multi-zone electronic control board allows compatibility with multi-zone climate control systems while quieter operation improves interior comfort.

Its reinforced steel base enhances durability for long-term RV use, while the low-profile rooftop design improves overall roof clearance without requiring modifications to standard 14 Inch x 14 Inch vent openings.

For Penguin II replacement applications, use RJ45 Adapter Part Number 9610008210 where required.

Electronic heat-pump controls and replacement fit

The Dometic FreshJet 5 FJX5557EHPBKCS is the black 15,000 BTU rooftop heat pump, manufacturer item 9620017217. It includes a factory-installed electronic control board. Unlike the mechanically controlled FreshJet 5 MHP model, this EHP unit requires the matching electronic thermostat and an interior air-distribution or return-air assembly selected for the RV's duct arrangement.

Penguin II upgrades: The existing replacement and adapter references above are retained. Dometic's transition guide identifies RJ11-to-RJ45 adapter 9610008210 for applicable older wiring, together with a compatible Connect Essential CMC thermostat for replacing older Penguin II wall controls. An existing 10-button CCC2 thermostat is not automatically plug-and-play with the EHP's factory control board. Confirm wiring, thermostat generation, number of zones, roof opening, ceiling assembly and electrical nameplate before ordering. The rooftop unit does not include the wall thermostat or indoor assembly.
