Clutch-type limited-slip differentials benefit from the friction modifiers already blended into this synthetic 75W-90 oil. Most applications need no additional modifier.
Product details
Red Line gear oils combine cold-flow characteristics with hot gear protection. The range offers differential temperature reductions of 10 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit and typical efficiency gains of 1 to 5 percent. Stable synthetic base stocks maintain film strength, carry higher loads than petroleum lubricants and permit extended use. In the range, 75W90 serves conventional and limited-slip differentials in street and racing use; 75W90NS and 75W140NS can increase lockup in certain racing limited-slip units. The 80W140 grade addresses commercial hauling, problem limited-slip units, high torque at low racing speeds and noise reduction. Lightweight and SuperLight favor power transfer where racing differential temperatures are not extreme. Limited Slip Friction Modifier reduces stick-slip chatter, but excess can reduce lockup, so add it only when needed. The 75W90, 75W140 and 80W140 grades already contain modifier, although some units need more.
